Over 256 registered voters came to the polls to vote for Selectboard, School Board, on the final Andover School Department Budget and for State Primary candidates.
There were no official candidates for Selectboard (1) or School Board (2) open positions. Two candidates declared their interest in running for school board as write-in’s. Candidates with the most votes have 10 days to accept the position and take their oath of office.
Local Election Results
Selectboard – Justin Thacker with 7 write-in votes (for personal reasons, Justin reluctantly declined his nomination on 6/15/26); the Select Board will need to decide whether to hold a special election to fill the open position or wait until the November election; 19 other write-ins received 3 or less votes;
School Board write-ins – Amber Bradford (33 votes) and Joseph O’Riordan (27 votes).
The school budget passed with 146 yes votes/100 No Votes
Here’s a few helpful tips for voting in a Primary:
- Registered Republican – Republican ballot
- Registered Democrat – Democrat ballot
- Unenrolled – can vote for ANY party with a ballot, but have to select only one
- Green Party and Independent registered voters cannot vote in a Primary unless they have candidates on a ballot
- You may register to vote the day of elections at the voting polls location with proper identification
- You may not change your party on election day; you can change your party up to 15 days prior to any election
- If you have not voted in the past 3 elections, the State, in an effort to keep records up-to-date, will remove you from the Active voter roll and you will need to reregister to vote
